Washington County Animal Services and Oregon Humane Society seeking return of lost pug
Washington County Animal Services and the Oregon Humane Society are working together to help reunite a Lady, a five-year-old black pug, with her family.
The dog was lost on May 18 in the Bethany area of Beaverton when she accidentally slipped through an open door.
Good Samaritans found her and brought her to OHS where she was checked for a microchip. Unfortunately, the chip information was outdated. (It has since been updated) The finders were directed to Washington County Animal Services since the dog was a stray.
It’s unclear where the dog was taken next, but surveillance video from OHS shows the finders leaving with Lady. She has not yet been brought to the Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter / Washington County Animal Services, nor has a found pet report been filed with Washington County Animal Services.
“Lady’s owners are very eager to get her back,” says Jennifer Keene, Outreach Coordinator, Washington County Animal Services. “We know that pets can go missing from even the most responsible homes and we are hoping this public plea will encourage whoever has her to bring her to Washington County Animal Services so we can reunite her with her family.”
Both Washington and Multnomah Counties have ordinances about the duties of finders of pets, but many people are not aware of the requirements.
“This is an unusual situation but a good time to remind the people that any stray pet should go to the local animal services agency where it was found,” says Laura Klink, OHS Public Information Manager. “Per county regulations, the Oregon Humane Society does not accept stray pets.”
